Mon Rovîa is a Liberian-born folk singer-songwriter whose music reflects a life shaped by displacement, identity, and cultural intersection. Born Janjay Lowe in Monrovia during Liberia's civil unrest, he spent his early years amid instability before being adopted by American missionaries and relocating to the United States. Raised across different parts of the American South, including Florida and Tennessee, he developed an appreciation for storytelling traditions that would later define his music.
Drawn to creative expression as a teenager, he taught himself instruments such as the guitar and ukulele and began crafting songs inspired by personal experiences and observations.
